If you’re wondering what exactly a 401(k) is, here’s some basic information you need to know before you get started: the 401(k) is a practice-sponsored retirement savings plan that allows you to make payroll contributions directly into your retirement savings account.
All teammates are eligible to participate in the 401(k) retirement savings plan on the first of the month following your hire date.
All new hires receive a welcome email from Charles Schwab to enroll in the 401k Plan within 2 weeks after their hire date. Please note once you update your deferral in the Charles Schwab website, it may take up to 2 pay periods for the change to be reflected in your paycheck.
You can contribute up to 100% of your paycheck, up to the $23,500 IRS limit.* Those age 50 or older in 2025 can contribute an additional $7,500 in catch-up contributions ($31,000 maximum). Those age 60-63 in 2025 can contribute an additional $11,250 in catch-up contributions ($34,750 maximum). All contributions are 100% vested immediately.
*Please note: Limits are set by the IRS and are subject to change
Teammates earning less than $155,000 in 2024 will receive a safe harbor practice contribution equal to 3% of their eligible compensation in 2025.
Those eligible will receive contribution deposits to their 401(k) Profit Sharing account within 60 days of the close of each quarter.
