Health Care FSA

Set aside pre-tax dollars for eligible expenses.

About FSAs

Health and Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Accounts(FSAs), administered by Vita, let you set aside tax-free money to pay for health care expenses you expect to have over the coming year.

How It Works

You can use the funds to pay at the time of service or reimburse yourself. Keep in mind that you are not eligible for a Health Care FSA plan if you are enrolled in an HSA, but you can enroll in a Limited Purpose FSA and use the funds to pay for (eligible) dental and vision expenses.

Health Care FSA

  • Estimate your and your family’s out-of-pocket costs for the coming year. Think about what you expect to pay for office visits, surgery, dental and vision expenses, prescriptions, over-the-counter medications. Then set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for those eligible expenses throughout the year.
  • Be a good planner: at year-end, you can only roll over up to $660. Any additional funds will be forfeited.
  • You cannot participate if you (or your spouse)are enrolled in an HSA-eligible medical plan.
  • You must enroll and make new elections annually.

Limited Purpose FSA

  • Money is set aside from your paycheck before taxes are taken out. You can use FSA dollars to pay for eligible vision or dental expenses and save money on expenses you’ve already paid for within the plan year like dental checkups, vision exams, and eyeglasses.
  • Be a good planner: you can only roll over to the following year up to $660. Any additional funds will be forfeited.
  • The Limited Purpose FSA is available if you (or your spouse) are enrolled in an HSA-eligible medical plan.
  • You must enroll and make new elections annually.

Are You Eligible?

  • You don’t have to enroll in one of our medical plans to participate in the Health Care FSA. However, if you or your spouse are enrolled in a HSA-eligible health plan (like our HDHPHSA 2500) you can only participate in the “limited purpose” FSA for dental and vision expenses.

Pay With Your FSA

  • Use your Vita Flex FSA debit card for approved expenses at the time of service.
  • You can incur eligible expenses any time during the calendar year.
  • You will have until March 31, 2026 to submit claims incurred in 2025.
  • Complete a Flexible Spending Reimbursement claim form with an itemized receipt or bill that indicates the date and type of service(s) and the amount to be.

IRS Rules

  • You can contribute a minimum of $240 and up to $3,300 annually.
  • Contributions are deducted from your pay pre-tax, meaning no federal or state tax on that amount.
  • To search and verify eligible expenses, click here.

Note: Terminated employees will have a 90-day run out period before their account is closed.
